Research Interests:

Numerical Modeling of water flow and solute transport

Parameter Estimation of soil hydraulic properties

Major Ion Chemistry modeling of biogeochemical processes

Transport Processes in one and multi dimensions with various equilibrium and nonequilibrium solutes in variably saturated porous media

Specific Applications:

Carbon Dioxide Transport and Production

Multicomponent Transport of Major Ions  involving both Equilibrium and Nonequilibrium kinetic reactions

Nonlinear Nonequilibrium Transport of multiple solutes involved in first-order decay reactions

Current Major Research Objectives:

Development of tools (numerical models) to study these processes

Making the models available in user-friendly software packages

Recent Work:

Identification of soil hydraulic parameters from transient two- and three-dimensional variably-saturated flow experiments, with e.g., tension disc infiltrometers, cone penetrometers, or multiple tension extraction devices.

Development of various new modules for the HYDRUS codes, such as modules for specific irrigation methods, colloid and virus transport, geochemical transport (coupling with the geochemical model PHREEQC), overland flow, transport of dissolved organic liquids (MTBE), transport of pharmaceuticals, and coupled vapor/water and heat transport.
