calibration with soil moisture TS

Post by Isabelle » Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:09 pm

Dear community,

I try to calibrate soil hydraulic parameters with the time series of soil moisture (sm) (orange) in a depth of 50
cm. The model (blue) seems to fit the winter, spring and summer pattern, but I have difficulties fitting the slow decline in water content during summer months (4500 - 6000 h). Can this be caused by wrong vegetation cover? I have set it to grass, but there are also trees in the area, which might have a influnece.

Thanks in advance for some help,
Isabelle

Since you do not see any response to rainfalls in the summer, I would wonder if this has something to do with interception. Due to higher LAI, you may have a higher interception, and less water falls directly at the surface. J.

Dear Jirka,

I did not thought about this, that makes sense. Thank you for your helpful reply!

Best regards,
