FE-Mesh Generator

HYDRUS uses two different FE-Mesh generation modules. It uses the MeshGen module to generate FE meshes for two-dimensional domains and for the Base Surface of three-dimensional layered domains. It then uses the Genex/T3D module to generate FE meshes for three-dimensional general domains. These are relatively different approaches to generating FE meshes and thus the use of the above discussed parameters and tools is sometimes also different.

The Finite Element Mesh Generator dialog window is used whether to select either a structured finite element mesh for relatively simple rectangular or hexahedral domain, or a more general unstructured finite element mesh. The dialog provides a brief description of each mesh generator and a simple bitmap with an explanation of the main terms involved. While the structured finite element generator can be used only for relatively simple rectangular of hexahedral domains, the unstructured finite element generator is used for more complicated geometries.
