Triggered Irrigation can be specified on the third tab of the Boundary Condition Options dialog window . Irrigation can be triggered by a user-specified “Pressure Head Triggering Irrigation” (input) reached in the selected “Observation Node Triggering Irrigation”. The irrigation starts after a user-specified Lag Time (input) at a user-specified Irrigation Rate or Pressure Head (input). The Duration of Irrigation has to be also specified. This option is currently available only for two-dimensional and axisymmetrical geometries.
Required Input:
Do you want to trigger irrigations (t – yes, f – no)
Observation node that triggers irrigation
The pressure head in the selected observation node that triggers irrigation
Boundary where irrigation will be applied (-4 = atmospheric (sprinkler), -3 or +3 = variable flux or pressure head (dripper)).
Irrigation rate applied on the boundary in [L/T] if BC code = -4 or -3.
Irrigation pressure head applied on the boundary in [L] if BC code = +3.
Duration of irrigation [T], if equal to zero then duration calculated from cumulative transpiration from previous rain or irrigation
Lag period for irrigation after pressure head in selected observation node is reached
Program provides information about triggered irrigations in the Boundary.out output file. Here is an example of such output:
